




Prototype of a Foldable Facade Unit

This project is a prototype design for an architectural facade, developed to explore how rigid shell components can achieve automated opening and closing in response to changing environmental conditions and functional needs through air compression and pneumatic inflation.
Inspired by the traditional Chinese art of origami, the design employs folding geometry to create deployable performance, reconciling the dual qualities of rigidity and adaptability. In doing so, it enables the facade to be both structurally robust and dynamically transformable.
The design has been awarded a National Invention Patent.

设计灵感源自中国传统折纸艺术,通过折叠所赋予的折展性能,巧妙解决了硬质材料与可变性之间的矛盾,使立面既具备结构的坚固性,又拥有灵活的可变性。
该设计已获得一项国家发明专利。
